The following are among the incidents reported to University Police between Sept. 25 and 27.
Sept. 25
12:25 p.m.: A witness reported seeing a vehicle strike an unattended vehicle in Lot E12. Based on the witness’ description, the suspect vehicle and student were subsequently located in Lot E12. The case is under investigation.
2:42 p.m.: A student reported she has seen her ex-boyfriend several times on campus and is fearful of him. He is a current student and the two have not had contact while on campus. She stated that they had a bad relationship while in high school. She also requested the events be documented in case an incident were to occur between them. She was referred to the Counseling Center.
3:15 p.m.: A student reported losing her Texas driver’s license on Sept. 20.
4:37 p.m.: A student reported that an unknown female used offensive language and hand gestures toward her in Lot B1. She reported that the incident was possibly in disagreement over a parking space.
Sept. 26
12:38 p.m.: A student reported losing a university-issued access control card in the Life and Health Sciences Building on the Brownsville campus. The card has been deactivated.
1:46 p.m.: A staff member reported a window to a university-owned vehicle was shattered while using a grass trimmer in the area. No injuries were reported.
2:47 p.m.: A student reported a woman parked near her vehicle, opened the car door, hit the left rear of her vehicle, caused damage and left the area.
7:32 p.m.: An officer observed a minor traffic collision in Lot E13. Contact was made with both parties involved, who were faculty members. No injuries were reported and the drivers exchanged information.
Sept. 27
4:56 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the Life and Health Sciences Building in reference to the report of an ill faculty member. Upon arrival, officers found a faculty member unresponsive and having difficulty breathing. As soon as he stopped breathing, officers deployed an automated external defibrillator and began CPR. Brownsville emergency medical services transported him to Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville, where he was later pronounced deceased. His family was notified.
10:14 p.m.: A student reported his vehicle stolen from Lot E19. The student did state later that he was behind two car payments. On a follow-up investigation conducted Sept. 28, the vehicle was located. It had been repossessed by a vehicle recovery company that had not contacted University Police. The case is unfounded.
