A body was recovered from the Fort Brown Resaca near the UTRGV Campus Bookstore earlier this evening, according to the Brownsville Police Department.
The identity of the body remains unknown.
Texas Southmost College sent an email to students, faculty and staff notifying them of the incident.
The college is working closely with local authorities to ensure the safety of the campus community.
The incident poses no risk to the surrounding area, according to the campuswide email.
The Rider tried to contact University Police but was referred to the Brownsville Police Department.
