10:40 a.m.: A student reported being concerned about his friend, who was having problems with her ex-boyfriend off campus in Brownsville.
9:59 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to a disturbance in the UREC on the Edinburg campus. Upon arrival, a staff member reported that a student threatened him when he was denied entrance. The student’s privileges had been suspended by UREC staff. The case is under investigation.
Oct. 30
12:09 p.m.: The UTRGV Police Department was alerted about two suspicious packages scheduled to be delivered to the Community Engagement & Student Success Building in Edinburg and the Biomedical Research & Health Building in Brownsville. The packages were intercepted and isolated before reaching their destinations. It was determined the packages posed no threat to the campus community.
Oct. 31
9:45 a.m.: A student reported being harassed via text messages by her non-affiliated ex-boyfriend while off campus. She filed a report with the Edinburg Police Department.
10:27 a.m.: A student reported that his laptop and electronic equipment were stolen from his backpack, which was left unattended in the Academic Services Building on the Edinburg campus. The case is under investigation.
Nov. 1
10:10 a.m.: An officer responded to a minor two-vehicle collision involving a UTRGV shuttle and a stationary vehicle at the Main Building U Circle on the Brownsville campus. No injuries were reported.
1:35 p.m.: An officer was dispatched in reference to a Facilities employee damaging a window of a parked vehicle while trimming grass in Lot E10 on the Edinburg campus. The vehicle’s owner was contacted and arrangements were made for the repair.
Nov. 4
2 a.m.: An officer assisted a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper with a traffic stop at a Stripes convenience store on the corner of University Boulevard and Tyler Street in Brownsville. The vehicle was registered as stolen from the City of San Benito. The driver was arrested on site by DPS and taken into custody.
7:39 p.m.: An officer stopped a vehicle for a defective headlamp in the 1700 block of East Taylor Street in Brownsville. The non-affiliated driver intentionally provided a false name and date of birth to the officer. He was placed under arrest on a charge of failure to identify.
Nov. 5
1:46 a.m.: An officer stopped a vehicle for driving without lights at 200 N. Jackson Road in Edinburg. A name check on the driver, who is a current student, revealed that he had active traffic warrants totaling $440 in the Edinburg Municipal Court. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Edinburg City Jail for booking.
