The following are among the incidents reported to University Police between Oct. 19 and 25.
Oct. 19
5:20 p.m.: An officer responded to the UT Health RGV Multispecialty Clinic in Edinburg in reference to a staff member reporting his cash register was short $5. A report was filed for documentation purposes.
Oct. 20
12:33 a.m.: The U.S. Border Patrol requested assistance in locating five subjects who had crossed the U.S. border fence and were in the fenced area of UTRGV Facilities on the Brownsville campus. The Border Patrol detained all five subjects without incident. The three males and two females were from Mexico.
11:22 a.m.: A staff member reported he discovered some discrepancies on the credit card fuel log for a Facilities vehicle. Upon further investigation, it was confirmed that there was no error in the documentation.
Oct. 21
12:27 a.m.: UTRGV Police Communications observed six individuals on surveillance cameras climbing over the U.S. border fence in the area of UTRGV Facilities. The U.S. Border Patrol was notified and subsequently took custody of four individuals who were found in the area. Two males and one female were from Honduras, and one male was from Mexico. The other two individuals were observed via cameras climbing back to Mexico.
8:05 p.m.: A student reported the rear left window of her vehicle was shattered while it was parked in Lot E-38 on the Edinburg campus. The officer reviewed cameras and observed grounds employees working around the area with a weed trimmer on Oct. 19. At this time, it is unknown what caused the damage.
Oct. 22
12:38 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the Texas Southmost College Science, Engineering and Technology Building in reference to an audible alarm. The investigation revealed that TSC Facilities had shut off the water pump, causing the alarm to sound. The Brownsville Fire Department arrived at the scene and deemed the building safe for reentry.
8:04 p.m.: UTRGV Police Communications observed, via border cameras, three subjects jump the U.S. border fence from the west side of the university parking Lot B-1 on the Brownsville campus. Officers were dispatched to the location to locate the subjects. Upon arrival, U.S. Border Patrol agents detained all three subjects on the south side of the levee without incident. All three subjects claimed to be from Cuba.
Oct. 24
2:14 a.m.: An officer observed a man interfering with traffic and arguing with another individual on International Boulevard. Upon approaching the individual, the officer observed strong signs of intoxication. The man was identified and eventually released to a family member.
