Sept. 10
9:03 a.m.: A staff member reported the rear window to his vehicle had been damaged while it was parked unattended at the Community Engagement & Student Success building parking lot in Edinburg. An investigation revealed the area had been mowed by a landscaping company. The staff member and the landscaping company will be making the necessary arrangements to repair the window.
10:43 a.m.: A student reported his laptop was stolen from an unsecured locker at the University Recreation Center on the Edinburg campus. The case is under investigation.
1:28 p.m.: A faculty member suffered from low blood pressure while working at the Clinical Education Building in Harlingen. Emergency medical services arrived and transported the woman to Harlingen Medical Center for further evaluation.
Sept. 12
1:10 p.m.: The Edinburg Fire Department and a UTRGV officer responded to the Performing Arts Complex B on the Edinburg campus regarding an active fire alarm. The fire panel indicated a smoke detector in the stairwell had been triggered. The fire department confirmed there was no fire or smoke in the building and reset the fire panel. A work order was placed to have the detector serviced.
Sept. 13
8:51 a.m.: An officer responded to the third floor of the Liberal Arts Building South in reference to a woman who had fainted. Emergency medical services arrived at the location, but the student declined to be transported.
10:04 p.m.: An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a violation at the 2100 block of West University Boulevard on the Brownsville campus. The officer’s investigation led to the non-affiliated passenger receiving a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Sept. 14
2:48 p.m.: An officer responded to the Robert C. Vackar College of Business and Entrepreneurship building on the Edinburg campus in reference to an unresponsive man asleep on a bench in the area. He was identified as a current student and was belligerent toward
the officers attempting to identify him. The student subsequently left campus without further incident
the case will be referred to Student Rights and Responsibilities for
further review.
11:42 p.m.: A student reported that while at Unity Hall on the Edinburg campus, a student had made her feel uncomfortable when he caressed her hair without her consent. The incident will be referred to Student Rights and Responsibilities for further review.
Sept. 15
12:38 a.m.: A student reported that while at Unity Hall on the Edinburg campus, a student had made him feel uncomfortable when he kept flicking his hair without his consent. This incident will be referred to Student Rights and Responsibilities for further review. NOTE: The suspect in this case is the same person involved in an incident that occurred at 11:42 p.m. Sept. 14.
