The following are among the incidents reported to University Police between April 7 and 12.
April 7
9:55 a.m.: An employee reported her vehicle was struck, causing damage to the front bumper, while it was parked in Lot E-20 on the Edinburg campus. The case is under investigation.
10:21 a.m.: An employee reported that while lowering a lift at the Village Apartments on the Edinburg campus, he accidentally struck a parked vehicle, causing damage to the windshield. No injuries were reported.
2:20 p.m.: A student at the Science Complex on the Edinburg campus reported not wanting to be contacted by phone or any social media platforms by a classmate. At the time the report was generated, the classmate had not been made aware the reporting party did not want to be contacted. The incident will be referred to Student Rights and Responsibilities for administrative review.
3:16 p.m.: A male student reported minor damage to his vehicle while it was parked in Lot E-9 on the Edinburg campus. A note was left on the vehicle with the name and phone number of the other party involved. Both parties spoke and agreed they would get the damages fixed.
4:07 p.m.: A student reported being bitten by a dog at an off-campus location on April 5. The student was referred to the Brownsville Police Department since the incident occurred off campus.
April 8
8:34 p.m.: An employee reported his bicycle was stolen from the Village Apartments on the Edinburg campus on April 3. The case is under investigation.
April 11
9:53 p.m.: UTRGV police officers detained three men from Mexico in Lot B-1 East on the Brownsville campus. The U.S. Border Patrol was notified and took custody of the subjects and transported them without further incident.
12:27 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to Lot E-25 on the Edinburg campus in reference to a student reporting that someone struck her vehicle and left the scene without contacting her or providing any information. The student does not want to pursue criminal charges.
4:53 p.m.: UTRGV police officers were dispatched to the Main Building on the Brownsville campus regarding a student who did not feel well and had possibly fainted. Emergency medical services were notified and arrived shortly after. The student declined transportation and was picked up by her mother.
April 12
5:50 a.m.: A UTRGV police officer was advised that a vehicle was blocking an entrance to Lot H-4 on the Harlingen campus. The police officer observed an unoccupied vehicle that was illegally parked, blocking traffic, and represented a traffic hazard. The vehicle was impounded and towed away.
8:13 p.m.: A UTRGV police officer met with a student who stated that an item she had purchased on Amazon never arrived at her residence. The student stated the item showed it was delivered on April 11; however, a camera check from the Unity Hall on the Edinburg campus showed the item never arrived at the location.
4:41 p.m.: An officer met with a student who stated that there was a suspicious man taking photos of her vehicle or the vehicle next to hers on Lot E-16 on the Edinburg campus.
9:43 p.m.: UTRGV officers responded to an active fire alarm in the Medical Education Building on the Edinburg campus. The building was found to be unoccupied. The Edinburg Fire Department arrived on scene and placed the building on fire watch due to the backflow system needing to be worked on.
