Centering Parenting Kickoff
Centering Parenting will host its Kickoff from 9 to 11 a.m. at the UT Health RGV John Austin Peña Memorial Center. The event will offer well-baby checkups with a board-certified pediatrician, education for new parents of children, newborns to 2 years old, referrals to local social-health services and free baby care items at every visit. The group will accept medicaid and private insurance. For those who are uninsured, a discount will be available. ART_oLoGy Classes
City of Edinburg Cultural Arts will host ART_oLoGy painting class from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library. Adults are able to register free of charge. Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis with only 40 open seats per class. Supplies will be provided for participants. Serving Hispanic Students in Texas
The Texas Tribune will host their “Serving Hispanic Students in Texas” event from noon to 1 p.m. at the PlainsCapital Bank El Gran Salón on the Brownsville campus in person or virtually. It will be streamed and available to watch afterward at texastribune.org/events. Guest speakers include Guy Bailey, UTRGV president, Juliet V. García, former president of University of Texas at Brownsville and current UTRGV communication professor, along with others. A light lunch and networking session will happen at 11:30 a.m., and will be followed by an hour-long conversation. Parking information will be sent out to attendees by Monday. Inside the Interim with Rio Grande Valley Lawmakers
The Texas Tribune will host their “Inside the Interim with Rio Grande Valley Lawmakers” event from noon to 1 p.m. at the Doctor’s Hospital at Renaissance Conference Center in Edinburg in person or virtually. Wellness Wednesday
Cosmos Workspace will host a Wellness Wednesday event from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at 1200 N. 10th Street, Suite E McAllen. For all non-members there is a $25 fee and for existing members there is a $15 fee. This event will include yoga, massages and mocktails. Harlingen Art Night

K-Pop Dance Workshop
The Indigo Dance Team will host a K-Pop dance workshop from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the Art Village on Main in McAllen. The event will include dance lessons, random dance play and a mini-dance competition. Participants will also get the chance to win a K-Pop album. There is a $15 fee per person. For more information, call 687-8682.

Drive-Thru COVID-19 Testing
The Hidalgo County Health and Human Services is offering drive-thru COVID-19 testing through Oct. 27, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m at the Hidalgo County Public Health Preparedness & Response building in Alamo. The tests being administered are rapid molecular PCR tests and are open to ages 6 months and older. Testing is through appointment only. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Patients must be experiencing one or more symptoms and must wear a face mask. This testing site is available to all Rio Grande Valley residents.
