Q: In your opinion, what should UTRGV do to resolve the parking situation?
“Honestly, I think we should speed up the construction a bit. I feel, right now, the biggest issue is just that all the roads are blocked off to our parking spots. I feel like, right now, it took me, like, an extra five minutes just because, like, the entrances to the parking spots were just blocked off.”
“I think, at present, UTRGV needs to increase the parking lots. They need to increase the places so that people can park their cars in here. There is not enough space, at present. And, also, they can increase the VOLT services, because some students live near the UTRGV campus, so they can use VOLTs. They don’t need to come here with their cars, so that the crowd of cars will be decreased.”
“Today, in the morning, I got here at 10:10 because my class is at 11. It took me the whole time to find parking space. I did not get to my class until 11:16 and all of the parking spaces were closed. I’m not sure why, so I just think they should open them. There’s no reason for them to be closed. Or whenever they’re directing traffic, like, let us go. Like, some people have been in line since forever and I didn’t even get here. I had to go, like, reroute all the way to the back of the gym to walk to the Liberal Arts Building North.”
“There’s just, like, no more parking here, and, especially with all the incoming freshmen, it’s just been really difficult to find a parking spot. A lot of us students have had to be coming an hour earlier. It’s honestly terrible. In this heat, honestly, I’ve just been sweating.”
