Amy Hislop, an exercise science sophomore, is a forward for the UTRGV Womenโs Soccer Team. She is 21 years old and is from Clyde, New Zealand. Hislop has played all six games of the season, so far, and scored two goals.
Q: What are your career goals?
A: โHopefully, I can go professional after this. I just want to play soccer for as long as I can, to be honest. I played for a university at home, so I studied for three years before coming here. I played soccer for them. I was on a scholarship there with the University of Otago [in New Zealand]. And then I just wanted to keep playing.โ
Q: What movies or shows do you like?
A: โI donโt actually have a lot of time anymore to watch them, but I really liked โProdigal Son,โ I liked โKilling Eve,โ โLove Islandโ is good as well. Thereโs an Australian one and thereโs an American one as well. Itโs like a reality TV show. Itโs just basically gossip the whole time.โ
Q: What kind of music do you like?
A: โHonestly, I like a little bit of everything. Iโm not very fussy. Like, I donโt have a set genre. Honestly, just a little bit of everything. My playlist is a little bit of everything. โฆ Iโll listen to more upbeat music, I guess you could say, like, pregame kind of vibes to get you pumped up.โ
Q: Who is one of your role models?
A: โIโd probably say my grandfather was one of my role models. He told me, โDo everything once, and do it right,โ and always believe in myself. Heโd be really proud of where I am at the moment, actually. A lot of it was [because] he told me I could do it.โ
Q: What has been your proudest moment?
A: โMy proudest moment was probably the goal against [Texas A&M] Corpus [Christi]. That was a nice goal.โ
Q: Do you have any fun facts about yourself?
A: โI have an identical twin sister.โ
Q: Does she play soccer too?
A: โShe did, she doesnโt anymore. This is the longest Iโve been apart from her.โ
