Open Mic Night
The Brownsville Public Library System will host an Open Mic Night from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Brownsville Public Library Main Branch located at 2600 Central Blvd. Admission is free.
Music Festival
The Broken Sprocket, a food truck park, will host the “Hippie Festival,” featuring live performances by Henry Lee, Sherri Lee, Joe Hugonnett and more, at 6 p.m. Saturday. The Broken Sprocket is located at 6305 Paredes Line Road in Brownsville. Admission is free.
Live Music and Performances
The Revival of Cultural Arts will host “Frida Kahlo-Yo Soy” from 5 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday in the Carlotta K. Petrina Cultural Center, located at 1452 Madison St. in Brownsville. There will be live music, loteria, open mic and a Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera look-alike contest
Poke-Fest
The Kraken Lounge and the RGV Poke-Fest will host a Pokémon-themed celebration. The event will feature games, music, trivia, vendors, art and special photo opportunities from 4 to 10 p.m. Saturday at 1150 Market Square St. in downtown Brownsville. Admission is free.
Sneakers for Students
The Cameron County Bar Association Women’s Law Section will host the ninth annual Sneakers for Students 1 Mile and 5K Run/Walk to benefit the students of Cameron County from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Venezzia the Venue, located at 5 Event Center Blvd. in Brownsville. Late registration fee $20 on race day.
Oktoberfest
5×5 Brewing Co. will host Oktoberfest with an array of traditional German delicacies, handcrafted brews and street food from 2 p.m. to midnight Saturday at 801 Bryan Road, Suite 174, in Mission.
Movie Night
The Dr. Hector P. Garcia Memorial Library in Mercedes will host a movie night featuring the Disney Pixar film “Elemental,” directed by Peter Sohn, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. The library is located at 434 S. Ohio Ave. There will be light refreshments available and admission is free.
