Trump leads in Hidalgo, Cameron County

As of 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, unofficial results in the U.S. presidential race showed former President Donald Trump garnered 56,446 votes in Cameron County and 89,766 in Hidalgo County, while Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris collected 54,156 votes in Cameron County and 3,908,152 in Hidalgo County.
Unofficial results were tallied with 100% of 68 polling locations in Cameron County reporting and 229 of 259 precincts in Hidalgo County reporting.
Nationwide, Republican Trump held the lead with 247 electoral votes, compared with 214 for Harris, according to the Associated Press.

With 235 of 254 Texas counties reporting as of 11:16 p.m., Trump led with 5,343,529 votes, or 57.16%, compared to Harris’ 3,889,665 votes, or 41.61%, according to the Secretary of State election results website.

In the race for U.S. senator, Republican incumbent Ted Cruz was leading statewide at 11:22 p.m. with 5,099,016 votes, or 54.6%, while Democratic challenger U.S. Rep. Colin Allred had 4,045,015 votes, or 43.32%, with 94% of counties reporting.
Cruz garnered 53,328 votes in Cameron County and 78,942 votes in Hidalgo County. Allred captured 58,230 votes in Cameron County and 92,023 votes in Hidalgo County.
In the race for U.S. Representative District 34, Democratic incumbent Vicente Gonzalez was leading districtwide with 96,842 votes, or 51.2%, against Republican challenger and former congresswoman Mayra Flores, who was trailing with 92,435 votes, or 48.8%.

Gonzalez garnered 57,323 votes in Cameron County and 32,767 in Hidalgo County. Flores received 56,815 votes in Cameron County and 27,416 in Hidalgo County.

In the race for U.S. Representative District 15, Republican incumbent Monica De La Cruz garnered 105,921 votes, or 57.98%, to second-time challenger Democrat Michelle Vallejo’s 76,756 votes, or 42.02%.

De La Cruz obtained 55,410 votes in Hidalgo County against Vallejo with 59,485.
This will be De La Cruz’s second term in office.
In the race for District 27 state senator, Democratic incumbent Morgan LaMantia led by 110,44 votes, or 58.34%, against opponent Republican Adam Hinojosa, who garnered 78,878 votes, or 41.66%.
LaMantia received 58,669 votes in Cameron County and 30,807 in Hidalgo County. Hinojosa collected 50,948 votes in Cameron County and 22,766 in Hidalgo County.
District 27 serves the Coastal Bend, encompassing Bee, San Patricio, Kleberg, Kenedy, Willacy, Cameron and portions of Nueces and Hidalgo counties.
In the race for District 37 state representative, Republican incumbent Janie Lopez collected 28,047 votes in Cameron County, while Democratic challenger Jonathan Gracia garnered 22,139.
In the Cameron County sheriff’s race, Democrat Manuel “Manny” Treviño garnered 63,864 votes. Republican Santiago “Jimmy” Manrrique received 46,356 votes.
J.E. “Eddie” Guerra, incumbent Democratic Hidalgo County sheriff, led with 100,563 votes against Republican Ezequiel “Zeik” Jurado III’s 66,942.
The number of registered voters in Texas is 18,623,931. Hidalgo County has 447,359 registered voters with a total turnout of 40.26%, and Cameron County has 238,649 with a total turnout of 49.06%.
Of the 18,623,931 registered voters in Hidalgo County, 164,648 secured their choice during early voting and out of the 238,649 Cameron County voters, 84,369 cast their ballots early.
