For the second consecutive year, UTRGV will host Halloween Fright Fest on the Edinburg and Brownsville campuses beginning today until Halloween.
“We are aiming better this year … bigger and better,” said Julia Gonzalez, cultural committee chair for the Campus Programming Board. “We are expecting a lot to happen.”
Fright Fest will offer four events on the Brownsville campus: The screening of “Suicide Squad” at 8 p.m. today on the Student Union lawn, a pumpkin carving contest at 10 a.m. Tuesday on the Student Union lawn, plus a haunted house and costume contest at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Casa Bella student housing complex.
On the Edinburg campus, Fright Fest begins with a pumpkin carving contest at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday on the Student Union east patio. “Suicide Squad” will be screened at 8 p.m. Wednesday on the Quad. Trunk or Treat will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Soccer and Track & Field Complex, followed by a haunted house at 7 p.m. in the Student Union’s second floor. On Halloween, there will be a costume contest at noon in the Student Union Commons.
“Everything is going great, so far. We are expecting a lot to happen,” Gonzalez said. “It has been talked about since last Fright Fest. …” she said. “We want to scare as many students as possible.”
All of the campus events are free for students, including the food.
