Hop Into Voting
The Civic Engagement Alliance will host Hop Into Voting, where students can register to vote from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Student Union patio on the Edinburg campus and at the same time Wednesday in the Main Courtyard on the Brownsville campus.
Book Swap
The Student Union will host a book swap from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the Student Union Commons on the Edinburg campus and at the Student Union La Sala on the Brownsville campus. Students may bring their old books and swap them with each other. New and used books are welcome. Textbooks are also allowed. Free books will be available.
Spring Fling Social
The Center for Student Involvement will host a Spring Fling Social from noon to 2 p.m. on the Student Union Chapel Lawn on the Edinburg campus and at the same time on the Main Lawn on the Brownsville campus. There will be free food, games and promotional items.
Wednesday
The People Series: Alebrijes
The Council for Cultural Activities and the Center for Student Involvement will host The People Series: Alebrijes from 3 to 4:30 p.m. via Zoom. Students will learn about the history and significance of Mexican folk art at the event. Students may RSVP online.
Easter Egg Hunt
The Center for Student Involvement will host an Easter Egg Hunt from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m on the Edinburg campus and at the same time Thursday on the Brownsville campus. The Easter eggs will be dispersed at different locations on both campuses. Students who collect four eggs will receive $15 in Vbucks. Students must turn in the eggs to the Center for Student Involvement office in University Center 205 on the Edinburg campus and Student Union 1.28 on the Brownsville campus. The Center for Student Involvement will be posting hints on its Instagram.
Easter Egg Painting
The Center for Student Involvement will host Easter Egg Painting from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on the Brownsville campus. The event location is to be determined. Materials and paint will be provided.
Thursday
Movie Night
The Council for Cultural Activities and Center for Student Involvement will show “Hacksaw Ridge” from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Music, Science and Learning Center Room 1.105 on the Brownsville campus and from 7 to 9 p.m. in Student Academic Center Room 1.112 on the Edinburg campus. “Hacksaw Ridge” tells the true story of Pfc. Desmond T. Doss, who won the Congressional Medal of Honor despite refusing to bear arms during WWII on religious grounds. Doss is played by Andrew Garfield in the movie.
Fashion Show
The House of Fashion will host a fashion show from 7 to 9 p.m in the Library Auditorium on the Edinburg campus. A variety of fashion styles from the Rio Grande Valley and the impact they have on the community will be explored.
