Horn Recital
Monica C. Martinez, an assistant professor of horn, will perform new and traditional horn repertoire from 7 to 9 p.m. at the UTRGV Performing Arts Complex on the Edinburg campus. Admission is free.
Do Something Awesome
The Center for Student Involvement, Student Life and Dean of Students will host an informative event where students can get involved with different student organizations on campus that can help build resumes. The event will take place from noon to 1 p.m. at the Student Union Sage Room on the Edinburg campus.
Pop-Up Shop
House of Fashion officers and members will run a pop-up thrift shop for UTRGV students from 2:15 to 4:45 p.m. on the Chapel Lawn on the Edinburg campus. The organization will sell items such as clothes and accessories donated by House of Fashion members.
Tuesday
Jewelry and Accessories Fundraising
The City of Brownsville Communications and Marketing Department will sell jewelry for $5 to raise funds to increase access to essential resources for members of the community. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Brownsville Event Center.
Get Involved Fair
The Center for Student Involvement and Involvement Ambassadors will have a social event where different student organizations will talk to Vaqueros and try to get them involved on campus. The event will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Main Building Courtyard on the Brownsville campus.
Wednesday
Anthromordant Exhibition
Tim Gonchoroff is a fiber and mixed media artist originally from Appalachian Virginia who will display his Anthromordant exhibition from 9 a.m to 5 p.m at the Texas Southmost College Rusteberg Art Gallery in Brownsville. Admission is free.
Hot Cheetos and Cheese Fundraiser
The UTeach Student Organization will host a Hot Cheetos and Cheese fundraiser for the club from 1 to 4:30 p.m. at the Student Union Lawn on the Brownsville campus. A bag of Hot Cheetos and cheese will be $2 and drinks will cost $1.
The Gospel-Bible Study
The Catholic Student Association will have a Bible study focusing on weekly Sunday gospels. The meeting will be from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Newman Catholic Student Center on the Edinburg campus.
Venture Cafe
Expanding Frontiers will host an event where attendees can network with entrepreneurs and small businesses from Brownsville and the Rio Grande Valley. The event is open to the public and will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. at 7th & Park, located at 1554 E. Seventh Street in Brownsville.
Thursday
Decoding Your Leadership
The Center for Student Involvement and Student Leadership Academy will host a workshop on conflict style where students can discover their personal conflict style and gain valuable insight into navigating challenging conversations with ease. The workshop will take place from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in Interdisciplinary Engineering and Academic Building Room 1.207 on the Edinburg campus. Food will be provided.
Super Smash Bros. Tournament
The Student Union Game Rooms on the Edinburg and Brownsville campuses will host a “Super Smash Bros.” Tournament from 2 to 3 p.m. Registration will be at the game room. Participants will have a chance to win VBucks. Students must bring their UTRGV ID to play.
Friday
‘Multi Family Home’
The Brownsville Museum of Fine Art will showcase “Multi Family Home,” a work of art created by Bryce Speed through Friday. Speed is an associate professor of art at the University of Alabama.
Market Days
South Padre Island will host its 27th annual market where local artisans will sell their products from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the South Padre Island Convention Center. Items available for sale include handmade jewelry, art, gourmet food and more. The event will take place at the same time Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $1 and children under 12 are free.
SARE Meeting
The Society of Aerospace and Robotic Engineers will conduct an executive board meeting from 9 to 11 a.m. in Engineering Building Room 1.290 on the Edinburg campus.
CPR & AED Course
University Recreation will host a CPR and AED course, which will teach attendees how to recognize and care for a variety of first-aid emergencies and how to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies. The course will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the University Recreation Conference Room on the Edinburg campus. Students who successfully complete the course will receive a certification valid for two years. Registration is $40.
