Adviser Panel
The Center for Student Involvement will host an adviser series where new, current or potential advisers can attend the session to receive foundational information on guiding student organizations throughout the semester. The session will take place from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at the University Center Bronc Room on the Edinburg campus.
K.I.S.S. Meeting
The Korean International Student Society will meet to talk about Korean culture, music and language from 3:45 to 5:15 p.m. through Thursday in Student Academic Center Room 1.101 on the Edinburg campus.
Tuesday
Black History Month Celebration
The Center of Excellence in STEM Education will celebrate Black History Month and women in STEM by showing the movie“Hidden Figures.” The movie will start at 11 a.m. in Mathematics and General Classrooms Room 2.412 on the Edinburg campus. Hot Cheetos and cheese will be provided.
The Big Leadership Challenge
The Student Leadership Academy and Center for Student Involvement will host a workshop for students interested in learning communication and teamwork. The workshop will take place from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in Music, Science and Learning Center Room 1.105 on the Brownsville campus.
La Gran Taquiza
The Campus Activities Board will host La Gran Taquiza, where local vendors will compete for the title of best taco in town from noon to 2 p.m. on the University Library lawn on the Brownsville campus.
Weekly Meeting
The Data Structures and Algorithms Architects will meet to review coding questions in preparation for passing technical interviews. The meeting will take place from 4:45 to 5:45 p.m. in Interdisciplinary Engineering and Academic Building Room 1.206 on the Edinburg campus.
German Classes
The RGV German Club will offer German lessons from 5 to 6:15 p.m. in Main Building Room 1.502 on the Brownsville campus. The lessons are free for club members and $30 for nonmembers.
Wednesday
‘Women at the Piano’
La Frontera International Piano Conference will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday in Music Science & Learning Center 1.217 on the Brownsville campus. The conference will consist of multiple back-to-back presentations on the theme, “Women at the Piano: A Celebration of Piano Music by Women Composers.” The conference will close with a concert at 7 p.m. Friday in the Texas Southmost College Performing Arts Center in Brownsville. Admission is free to the conference and concert.
Charreada
In celebration of Brownsville’s Charro Days, Student Activities will host its annual Charreada from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Student Union lawn on the Brownsville campus. Activities include a Folklórico show, lotería and an elote-eating competition. Student organizations will sell snacks and drinks.
General Meeting
Beta Alpha Psi will host a general meeting with members from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in Mathematics and General Classrooms Room 1.206 on the Edinburg campus.
Thursday
Lotería
The Student Union Game Room will host a lotería from 1 to 2 p.m. on both the Edinburg and Brownsville campuses. Winners will receive VBucks. Students must bring their UTRGV ID to participate.
Rack Relay Challenge
University Recreation will host a competition of dumbbell shoulder press between two people from 8 to 11 a.m. in the University Recreation Center on the Edinburg campus. There will be prizes for the top three men and women. Partners required.
Friday
2024 Mariachi Vocal Competition
Middle and high school students will compete in the Mariachi semifinals from 3 to 5 p.m. in the UTRGV Performing Arts Complex on the Edinburg campus. The event is part of the UTRGV’s annual Festival of International Books & Arts (FESTIBA). Admission is $5.
