What’s your favorite part of coaching volleyball? “The biggest thing I like about coaching volleyball is we have the opportunity to impact people’s lives, it’s not just about volleyball. We get to teach them how to be a part of a team, get through life, how to work together and all those kind of things. On top of that, we love the game and it’s fun to come into the gym and play every day.”
What’s your favorite place to eat off campus? “Probably, Kumori [sushi] because I love sushi and it’s good there.”
How was the adjustment going from athlete to coach? “It wasn’t that hard for me because I wasn’t an athlete the second part of my college career, so I had already started getting into the coaching side of it, you know, taking stats and those kind of things. The transition wasn’t that bad, but having to give up control, like you can’t go out there and do it yourself. You kind of have to try to be kind of the puppet master and get them to do things you want them to do is probably the hardest part.”
How do you feel coaching this team? “This team’s a lot of fun. I’m excited about this team because there is so much potential here, you know, and it’s a lot of fun every day to come to the gym and just see them continue to get better. And, getting to teach them things, not only volleyballwise, but also how to become a team and create a winning culture and all those things. Having a group that buys into that makes it fun to come to the gym every day.”
Who is your favorite music artist? “I don’t really have anyone, but let’s go with Luke Bryan. I listen to everything, but probably, right now, that’s at the top of my list.”
Where would you go on your dream vacation? “I would go to Fiji. I love the beach and the warm weather, so I’d like to see it some day.”
