Q: Can you tell us a fun fact about yourself?
A: “[I’m] from San Diego, California.”
Q: Who or what got you started in baseball?
A: “I’d say, honestly, my parents. My dad obviously loved watching and playing baseball and they kinda just signed me up and then ever since then, I feel like it was just kinda born into me. Like, my middle name is Nomar [after Nomar Garciaparra, former Red Sox shortstop], so I feel like just going with that aspect, just born into baseball in a way.”
Q: Who’s been your biggest inspiration or role model?
A: “Definitely my mom and dad. They’re always supporting me no matter what. They take care of me and they always just wish me the best and they’re always there for me whenever I need anything.”
Q: What kind of music do you like to listen to?
A: “Rap and country.”
Q: Any shows or movies you like to watch?
A: “I just finished watching ‘The 100.’ I like that and ‘Prison Break.’”
Q: Do you have any hobbies?
A: “I like to surf and work out.”
Q: What is your biggest motivation?
A: “Biggest motivations probably just gotta be wearing that last name on my back in a way, like, knowing who I’m playing for and trying to make them proud and do everything I can like they did for me to get to where I am today.”
Q: What do you like the most about UTRGV?
A: “I think just the guys and the coaching staff here. I came in from San Diego not knowing anybody and they really just took me in and, like, appreciated me and honestly just made me family. So, it’s been awesome.”
Q: What are your biggest goals?
A: “Just enjoy every moment. Like, never let anything get down on you or bring you down. Just taking everything one pitch at a time and really just enjoying the process and where it takes me.”
