Breaking News News On Campus Brownsville Fire Department responds to smoke report Victor G. Ramirez April 23, 2019 The Brownsville Fire Department responded to a report of smoke earlier today at the Biomedical Research Building, according to Mario Guerrero, the city’s assistant fire chief. “We had a little smoke scare here with one of the boilers for the biomedical facility,” Guerrero said. “It was being serviced and, apparently, it was left in service, but it malfunctioned.” Students, faculty and staff were asked to evacuate the building. “Everything is good to go, there’s no fire or any danger anymore,” he said. “Right now, we’re going to have one of our fire inspectors double check the fire alarm system to make sure it’s working properly and then we’ll let the students back in.” VICTOR G.
