What activities does the association perform? “We do lots of volunteer work, especially with events that are hosted by law enforcement agencies. I think we have one coming up on Oct. 2 and it’s Hidalgo Night Out. So, all the branches of law enforcement get together and they give free food, games and information to the community. So, it’s just a lot of volunteer work, like the beach cleanup, donating to various organizations, and we do lots of fundraisers.”
When and where do the association’s general meetings take place? “In Room 111 in the ELABN building, [Thursdays] from 12:30 to 1:30 [p.m.]”
What are the membership requirements? “To be active in our organization, you have to attend five meetings, you have to get two volunteers, [attend] two socials and two fundraisers and if you’re active two semesters, one before and one when you’re graduating, you get sash and a medal.”
