The number of COVID-19 cases in Hidalgo and Cameron counties is on the rise, along with the number of people choosing to be vaccinated, according to statistics posted on their websites.
The Hidalgo County COVID report posted Wednesday on its website showed 349 positive COVID-19 cases, raising the county’s total to 102,225.
As of Wednesday, the county reported seven additional deaths, raising its death toll to 2,974.
Hidalgo County has reported a total of 3,766 net active COVID-19 cases.
The Texas Health and Human Services statistics showed, the fully vaccinated percentages for residents of Hidalgo have increased for those age 12 and older and 65 and older.
The percentage of fully vaccinated county residents age 12 and older is 68.3% and 83% for those age 65 and older.
On Tuesday, Cameron County Public Health reported an additional 206 COVID-19 cases.
The county has a total of 46,093 positive cases with 210 recovered, raising the total recovered to 41,964, according to the news release.
Cameron County also reported three additional COVID-19 related deaths, raising the death toll to 1,726.
Fully vaccinated statistics for those age 12 and older is 70.15% and 82.39% for those age 65 and older, according to Texas Health and Human Services.
