“Even though [Madness] is not on their campus, we still want [students from Brownsville] to feel connected to the university and this is part of their school experience,” Student Activities Assistant Director Lauren Contreras said earlier today.
Check-in for the shuttle is from 5 to 5:15 p.m. Friday in front of the Main Building on the Brownsville campus. The shuttle will leave at 5:30 p.m.
“[The shuttle] should arrive at the Fieldhouse around 7 p.m. and will depart from the Fieldhouse at 11 p.m. and should arrive, more or less, in Brownsville around 1 a.m.,” Contreras said.
Seating on the shuttle is limited and will be given on a first-come-first-serve basis.
The Student Government Association and Athletics Department will provide the shuttle service.
UTRGV Madness serves as an introduction to both the men’s and women’s basketball teams, along with an annual student organization dance-off.
A block party is scheduled at 7 p.m. in the Fieldhouse parking lot. UTRGV Madness will begin at 9 p.m. inside the Fieldhouse.
Doors open at 8:40 p.m. Admission is free.
“We hope people come out and the bus people for sure get a T-shirt,” Contreras said. “They should definitely go.”
