The thought of moving out and living someplace other than home just excites me more than graduating from college.
The last few years of high school, my parents told me to stay home for college to save money. At first, I didn’t agree with them because I was so eager to leave right after high school.
During my time at UTRGV, I have really enjoyed staying home and being closer to my family. I later on understood what my parents were trying to tell me.
I realized that I’m closer to graduating college than I was straight out of high school. I’ve come to the decision where I’m still eager to leave and explore what’s outside the Rio Grande Valley.
Since I’ll be 21 years old and graduating with my bachelor’s, I think it’ll be time to move away and find my way in life, of course, if I have a stable job and am financially able to move away.
I think for everyone who stayed home for college after high school while most of their friends left for college, it’s time for us to see what else is out there.
Living somewhere else in your 20s other than home is something we need to experience in our lives. It’s a time where we can figure out who we want to be and what we like or don’t like.
It’s important for you to grow now and learn from your mistakes to become the best version of yourself.
The city I am in love with is Austin. Something about the layout of the city makes me motivated to go outside and see what I can do with my day. From the nature around me to the tall buildings, everything genuinely puts a smile on my face.
It’s a very different city than any city in the Valley, from the atmosphere to the different people around.
Austin has more activities than the Valley. I feel like there isn’t much to do here on a daily basis here. It can honestly make days here boring if you don’t know what to do.
Picture yourself living in the place you’ve always wanted to move to. You’re enjoying yourself in that city with the people you’ve met and surrounded yourself with. You have a good job, great atmosphere; everything is great.
Maybe, it’s the other way around for some. You don’t like the people, you don’t like your job; everything isn’t great. You can always move back; home will always be here. At least, you can say you moved somewhere. You lived somewhere you’ve never lived in your 20s.
