A total of 261 people have tested positive for the coronavirus in Hidalgo County, with six additional cases confirmed according to a new release published Sunday. In the county, 2,285 tests have been administered with 1,909 negative and 115 tests pending results.
As of Sunday, a total of 27 individuals are in area hospitals with six being in intensive care units. Forty-five individuals have been released from isolation, after showing no symptoms for 10 days, including the last three days without fever.
Hidalgo County confirmed its third COVID-19 related death last Thursday, a 77-year-old man from Mission with underlying health issues, according to a county news release.
All three COVID-19 related deaths in Hidalgo County were men with underlying health issues.
“This disease is particularly tough on our most vulnerable populations,” Hidalgo County Judge Richard F. Cortez said in the news release. “I extend my deepest sympathies to the family of this man.”
