Hidalgo County had a total of 88,103 ballots cast, either through in-person voting or mail-in ballots, throughout the county’s first week of early voting.
In-person voting accounted for a majority of the total votes cast, with 77,469, or about 88%.
The first day of early voting had the largest early voting turnout in Hidalgo County with 18,970 ballots.
Last Tuesday through Friday, 62,497 in-person ballots were cast. Over the weekend, 14,972 voted in-person. No mail-in ballots were received by Hidalgo County Saturday or Sunday.
The total number of mail-in ballots cast for the first week is 10,634.
The total numbers of early voters per day are:
-Tuesday: 18,970 in-person/ 6,169 mail-in ballots,
-Wednesday: 16,385 in-person/ 1,568 mail-in ballots,
-Thursday: 13,807 in-person/ 2,103 mail-in ballots,
-Friday: 13,335 in-person/ 794 mail-in ballots,
-Saturday: 10,889 in-person/ 0 mail-in ballots,
-Sunday: 4,083 in-person/ 0 mail-in ballots.
The three most active polling locations during the first week were the Elections Annex Building in Edinburg, the Lark Community Center in McAllen and the Weslaco Business Visitor and Event Center. The three locations accounted for 18,274, or about 20%, total votes cast in Hidalgo County.
The UTRGV Ballroom polling location on the Edinburg campus had a total 4,924 ballots cast during the first week.
