Roxanna Miranda/THE RIDER PHOTOS Psychology sophomore Monica Chavez makes her own parol, a Filipino ornamental lantern, last Wednesday at the Kapwa Festival on the Brownsville campus. The event, hosted by the Council for Cultural Activities and Filipino Student Association in celebration of Filipino heritage, took place in the Brownsville Music, Science and Learning Center and took place in observance of Filipino American History Month. Information systems senior Gabriel Garza grabs some snacks last Wednesday during the Kapwa Festival on the Brownsville campus. The event also took place last Thursday on the Edinburg campus. The UTRGV community enjoyed free Filipino dishes.
