The UTRGV Master Chorale will present its fall concert “Vita: Innocence, Romance, Tragedy and Salvation” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Texas Southmost College Arts Center in Brownsville.
Classical choral music will be performed by the student ensemble.
“The [Master Chorale] is the main chorus of the university. It is made of vocal music majors and [UTRGV] gives them each semester a performance opportunity to perform major pieces in major concerts on campus in the [TSC] Arts Center,” said Sean Taylor, music assistant professor and conductor of the ensemble concert.
The concert will feature British composer John Rutter’s “Requiem,” with solos by UTRGV Assistant Professor and cellist Katherine Decker and special guest and oboist Erica Casanova.
General admission is $5.
A pre-concert lecture will be presented before the concert at 7:05 p.m. in the TSC Arts Center lobby.
“We will be talking about the music that we’ll be performing,” Taylor said. “So, some history and interesting facts will be discussed.”
The student chamber ensemble, which was scheduled for Thursday, has been canceled, according to the Patron of the Arts office on the Brownsville campus.
