Brownsville mayor hits commencement change

Commencement ceremonies will no longer take place on the Brownsville campus. All Fall 2024 ceremonies will be held indoors at the Bert Ogden Arena on Dec. 13 and 14. University officials said the decision was made to ensure everyone’s safety from excessive heat, minimize the chance of weather-related delays or cancellations and because none of the UTRGV campuses have buildings with sufficient capacity to hold such large events.
