
Multidisciplinary artist Daisy Patton presents a workshop last Thursday via Zoom to UTRGV students in a painting and drawing class in Rusteberg Hall on the Brownsville campus. The workshop, sponsored by the UTRGV Center for Latin American Arts, is part of the “Uncovered Spaces” exhibit on display at the International Museum of Art & Science in McAllen. Patton spoke to the students about how never getting to meet her father has helped her express her emotions in her work. The artist, who is based in Massachusetts, has exhibited in solo and group shows nationally, according to her website. Patton also has paintings held in public and private collections, such as the Denver Art Museum, Fidelity Investments Art Collection and Delta Airlines, the website states. Citlalli Torres/The Rider

The UTRGV Center for Latin American Arts held a painting workshop in conjunction with its “Uncovered Spaces” exhibit, in which artist Daisy Patton connected last Thursday via Zoom to speak with students in a painting and drawing class on the Brownsville campus. Patton asked the class to complete an exercise and write down their own type of research regarding their work of art. The students asked Patton what she thinks about when making her artwork and she asked the class to write down their answers as well. The event was held last Thursday, April 7 in Rusteberg Hall on the Brownsville campus.
