America, the land of the free.
Land of the people who have absolute free will to do as they please, say what they please and act as they will.
A country in which everyone is entitled to their own opinion, yet some feel as if it were their duty to change others’ morals and opinions.
Oh, but watch out. People will come for you if you voted for the opposing party.
I want to be able to believe what I want without others trying to change my mind.
They can look at me as they please, with saddened disapproval, but I cannot sit through another speech telling me the way I think is outdated, or wrong for today’s society.
If the land we roam is as free as they say, why am I not allowed to think the way I do without making someone upset?
If I can let others live in peace, why am I not allowed to live with my own thoughts?
“The land of the free and home of the brave,” but some are scared to speak up because of the repercussions society might inflict upon them.
People have become so wrapped up in their own emotions they sometimes forget they’re not the only ones hurting.
America has progressed in many areas, but I can’t believe it decayed abundantly in others.
How can a child become a millionaire, after a few years, by standing in front of a camera, when the average worker can only hope to make shy of $2 million after slaving away their entire life, according to a Georgetown University article, “The College Payoff?”
Are we really paying entertainment billions of dollars a year, but next to nothing to the people who grow our food?
Honestly, why has it been declared worldwide that America is one of the best countries?
Was this defined by the hundreds of school shootings? Or by being one of the countries with the highest rates of mental illness or the number of homeless veterans?
Don’t get me wrong, we are definitely not the worst, but we are far from best.
This country was built on faith, hard work and the unfair treatment of others. Now, only one of these stands, and it is the latter.
“In God we trust,” except everyone has made their own opinions on what God means or represents.
People say, “If God is so good, wouldn’t He want me to be happy?”
Well, dear reader, that would be up for debate. God said we have to die to ourselves daily and not please our wants.
He promised nothing but happiness, yet our mind seeks approval from others for temporal greatness.
Why gain everything in the world, to only lose yourself in the end?
