
The following are among the incidents reported to University Police between March 31 and April 6.
March 31
10:29 a.m.: Officers were dispatched in reference to a two-vehicle traffic collision in Lot E-8 on the Edinburg campus. No injuries were reported.
1:50 p.m.: A student reported damage to his vehicle’s window in Lot E-19 on the Edinburg campus. The case is under investigation.
1:52 p.m.: An officer responded to a minor two-vehicle traffic collision in Lot E-16 on the Edinburg campus. No injuries were reported.
2:01 p.m.: An employee reported a suspicious person appeared to be homeless in the Community Engagement and Student Success Building, located at 1407 E. Freddy Gonzalez Drive in Edinburg. Upon arrival, the individual had already left. Extra patrols were provided.
4:47 p.m.: A student reported finding a suspicious note on his vehicle in Lot E-34 on the Edinburg campus. The note did not contain any criminal content. An officer reviewed surveillance footage and saw no one placing the note on the car.
April 1
7:02 a.m.: A parent contacted the Police Department out of concern for her daughter, a student, who was not answering her calls. An officer located the student in her dorm, and she reassured the officer that she was fine and would reach out to her mother.
11:18 p.m.: A UTRGV officer assisted the Edinburg Police Department investigating a criminal offense that occurred off-campus involving several UTRGV students who were victims. After further investigation, the Edinburg Police Department arrested one non-affiliated suspect.
April 2
10:42 a.m.: A student flagged down an officer to report a verbal dispute with three other students regarding a group project in Lot E-4 on the Edinburg campus. After further investigation, it was determined that no crime had occurred, and the student had already informed her professor about the incident.
2:18 p.m.: A student reported being pushed by another student approximately ten times since last year. The case is under investigation.
10:53 p.m.: A student reported his scooter was stolen while left unsecured at a bike rack on the Edinburg campus. The case is under investigation.
April 3
9:26 a.m.: A student reported being struck by a vehicle while traveling in the crosswalk on his scooter in front of the University Recreation Center on the Edinburg campus. The operators involved refused medical attention.
1:09 p.m.: A student reported striking a pole with her vehicle in Lot E-9 on the Edinburg campus. The student refused medical attention.
5:31 p.m.: A student reported damage to his vehicle while it was parked and unattended in Lot E-9 on the Edinburg campus.
April 4
11:58 a.m.: An officer responded to a minor two-vehicle traffic collision in Lot E-9 on the Edinburg campus. No injuries were reported.
1:14 p.m.: A student reported that his bicycle was taken from the University Library’s bike rack on the Brownsville campus. The case is under investigation.
April 5
4:39 p.m.: A student reported damage to his vehicle while it was parked and unattended in Lot E-16 on the Edinburg campus. No injuries were reported.
April 6
5:01 p.m.: A student requested to be transported to the hospital due to feeling ill. Emergency Medical Services arrived and transported the student for further medical evaluation.
10:33 p.m.: While off-campus, an officer observed an elderly woman who had fallen in a parking lot. After assisting her, she requested Emergency Medical Services and was transported to the hospital for treatment.
