12:12 p.m.: A staff member from the Edinburg campus lost 10 university-issued keys.
2:49 p.m.: A student from the Edinburg campus received a call from an unknown male requesting personal information. The student provided his date of birth and passport number over the phone. When the caller asked for bank information, the student believed the call to be fraudulent and hung up.
4:40 p.m.: A staff member from the Edinburg campus lost a university-issued key.
5:51 p.m.: A student was bitten by a brown recluse spider in the Health Affairs Building West on the Edinburg campus. Her medical provider confirmed her diagnosis, and she is receiving treatment. A work order was placed for pest control services. The incident occurred on Jan. 22.
11:16 p.m.: A male student lost his wallet at the Casa Bella Apartments on the Brownsville campus.
Jan. 24
10:12 a.m.: A faculty member from the UT Health Biomedical Research Building lost two university-issued keys.
12:25 p.m.: A female staff member from the Edinburg campus received threatening messages via a phone application. The case is under investigation.
2:50 p.m.: A staff member from the Edinburg campus lost three university-issued keys.
3:31 p.m.: A male student from the Edinburg campus was found to be in possession of a fraudulent Texas driver’s license. Student Rights and Responsibilities will further review the incident.
Jan. 26
1:16 a.m.: A non-affiliated man was arrested after being stopped for a traffic violation. It had been discovered that the man had an active and confirmed arrest warrant from Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office for revocation of probation. The original offense had been possession of marijuana. He was issued a written warning for the traffic violation and booked into the Hidalgo County Jail for the outstanding warrant. The vehicle was released to a family member who was at the scene. The incident occurred on Jackson road in Edinburg.
1:53 a.m.: A non-affiliated man was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated-one previous conviction (Class A misdemeanor). He was transported to the City of Brownsville Jail. When he refused to provide a breath sample, a search warrant to obtain a blood sample was granted by a magistrate. The blood sample was then taken at a local hospital in accordance with the search warrant. The vehicle was towed from the scene. The man had originally been stopped for a traffic violation, which he received a written warning for. The incident occurred at International Boulevard and Taylor Street in Brownsville.
