The following are among the incidents reported to University Police between March 8 and 28.
March 8
3:35 p.m.: A student reported that, while inside a restroom stall at the Interdisciplinary Engineering & Academic Building on the Edinburg campus, he observed an unknown man hold a cell phone over the stall who appeared to photograph/record the student without his consent. The case is under investigation.
March 9
8:45 p.m.: An officer observed a female and male student who appeared to be crying by a parked vehicle in Lot E-19 on the Edinburg campus. The officer spoke separately with both students, who reported they were having relationship issues and were just talking about it. The officer determined that no crime had occurred.
March 10
1:13 p.m.: A woman attending a physical activity class/training dislocated her shoulder in the Community Engagement Student Success building on the Edinburg campus. Emergency medical services were requested and the woman was subsequently transported to the hospital for further medical care.
March 17
8:34 a.m.: A Sodexo employee on the Edinburg campus reported that, without consent, unknown persons had driven two golf carts away from where they were left parked and unattended. Both golf carts were located nearby on campus, and one was vandalized during the incident. The case is under investigation.
March 18
8:33 p.m.: While conducting building checks, officers found two Sodexo vehicles and an entrance door unsecured. No signs of burglary or vandalism were observed. The building was secured and the Sodexo manager was notified.
March 22
2:29 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the construction site area of Lot B-1 on the Brownsville campus in reference to a man attempting to go over the border fence who was observed by UTRGV Police Dispatch via closed-circuit TV cameras. The U.S. Border Patrol was notified, and they subsequently apprehended the man on the south side of the border fence.
March 23
12:12 p.m.: A student reported that, while in a bathroom stall of Performing Arts Complex B on the Edinburg campus, he noticed a man watching him from the outside of the stall. The man left and shortly returned and exposed his genitals to the student before leaving the area. The case is under investigation.
March 24
3:37 p.m.: A UTRGV police officer on patrol observed an unknown man walking into the wooded area near the Student Union on the Brownsville campus in an apparent attempt to conceal himself from the officer. The U.S. Border Patrol was notified and arrived on scene shortly after. A search was conducted, and the man and three women were found hiding in the area. All four subjects were identified as Honduran nationals and taken into custody by the Border Patrol.
9:37 p.m.: A female employee wanted to document an incident that took place during a UTRGV event held off campus on March 23. The manager of the private venue in Brownsville where the event took place posted two pictures of high school students at the event without authorization on social media. Elements of a criminal offense were not met.
March 27
3:05 p.m.: An officer responded to the Social Work and Occupational Therapy building on the Edinburg campus regarding a theft report. A staff member reported several electronic items missing from a storage closet. The case is under investigation.
March 28
8:23 a.m.: Officers responded to the eBridge for Business and Commercialization in reference to a man who was possibly intoxicated outside the building. Officers located the man nearby off campus and determined that he was not intoxicated. The man was released without further incident.
