April 18
8:04 a.m.: An employee reported a social media post warning female students to beware of a man who had been approaching and making women feel uncomfortable in Liberal Arts Building South on the Edinburg campus. At this time, the woman who posted the social media post has not come forward to file a police report. The case is under investigation.
At 2:55 p.m., another female student reported she was approached by the male student on the Bronc Trail on the Edinburg campus. He flirted with her, which made her uncomfortable. The student reported he approached her again a week later and she told him she wanted no contact with him. No criminal elements were met.
At 4:57 p.m., another female student reported the male student approached her in the Student Union on the Edinburg campus and complimented her appearance, which made her feel uncomfortable. The student said her female friends have also been approached by the same man. No criminal elements were met.
At 5:52 p.m., another female studentreported that the male student was flirting with her in Lot E-9 on the Edinburg campus, which made her feel uncomfortable. The female student said the male student sends messages to her social media account. No criminal elements were met.
5:22 p.m.: An employee reported a disturbance had occurred at the UT Health RGV Multispecialty Clinic in Brownsville by a male patient who became upset and used vulgar language when informed he did not have an appointment. The patient left the area before the officer’s arrival. The case is under investigation.
April 19
11:57 a.m.: An officer responded to the Center for Innovation and Commercialization in Harlingen in reference to a man who was in the area attempting to speak to a female student. The man was not located.
12:24 p.m.: An officer observed a group of about 20 to 40 individuals who were living in or entering the U.S. illegally and walking along River Levee Road in Brownsville. The U.S. Border Patrol was contacted and all individuals were escorted to the temporary processing center located at the former Fort Brown Memorial Golf Course.
10:50 p.m.: Officers responded to Lot E-18 on the Edinburg campus in reference to a man following a female student on campus, which made her feel uncomfortable. Officers located the man and issued a criminal trespass warning.
3:53 p.m.: A student reported that someone used her Social Security information to file a tax return. The student requested a police report to provide to the IRS and the Social Security Office. The case is under investigation.
8:31 p.m.: A student on the Edinburg campus reported he was notified that someone was possibly posting flyers with his face and name around campus. No flyers with the student’s information were located by officers. A report was generated for documentation purposes.
April 20
7:35 a.m.: An officer observed two individuals running toward the brush area near the University Library on the Brownsville campus. The U.S. Border Patrol was notified and apprehended two adult individuals who were living in or entering the U.S. illegally. The Border Patrol took custody of the individuals, one from Mexico and the other from Colombia.
9:19 a.m.: Officers observed a man sleeping on a bench outside the Research Education building on the Edinburg campus. Upon making contact with the individual, officers determined he had an active criminal trespass warning for all UTRGV property. The man was placed under arrest for criminal trespass (a class B misdemeanor) and booked into the Edinburg Municipal Jail.
3:26 p.m.: Several female students reported that a male student confronted them about posting flyers around the Edinburg campus with his information.
3:56 p.m.: Officers responded to the Biomedical Research & Health building on the Brownsville campus regarding a student who was approached by a man making alarming comments. The man was located and was issued a criminal trespass warning for the UTRGV campus.
April 21
4:17 p.m.: An officer met with an employee on the Edinburg campus regarding an incident involving two student workers in her department. The employee said that on April 13, a man approached both student workers separately and asked for their phone numbers and social media information. A report was generated for documentation purposes.
April 23
3:45 p.m.: Officers met with a student on the Edinburg campus who reported that she was defrauded by paying online for a service that does not exist. The case is under investigation.
