The following are among the incidents reported to University Police between Feb. 27 and March 5.
Feb. 27
12:38 p.m.: An officer met with a faculty member at the Science Building on the Edinburg campus who stated that a student spoke to her in an aggressive manner during class. No criminal elements were met.
2:08 p.m.: An officer responded to Liberal Arts Building North on the Edinburg campus in reference to graffiti found in the menโs bathroom. The case is under investigation.
4:03 p.m.: A public safety officer responded to a fire alarm in the Clinical Education Building on the Harlingen campus. The Harlingen Fire Department responded and determined that a faulty alarm panel had set off the alarm. Environmental Health and Safety was advised of the issues.
Feb. 28
1:17 p.m: An officer responded to a minor two-vehicle collision in Lot E-9 on the Edinburg campus. No injuries were reported.
5:03 p.m.: An officer met with a student who stated that his vehicle was struck by an unknown vehicle while parked in Lot E-16 on the Edinburg campus. The case is under investigation.
Feb. 29
1:30 p.m.: A student reported being approached by a suspicious man at the Clinical Education Building on the Harlingen campus. The man asked her personal questions that made her feel uncomfortable. Officers later spoke with the man and issued him a criminal trespass warning for all UTRGV properties. The man was also found to have an extensive criminal history.
March 1
8:04 a.m.: An officer was sent to investigate a reported gas odor in Lot B-2 on the Brownsville campus. Facilities staff arrived and discovered minor gas leaks from a gas meter. The valve was shut off until all necessary repairs were completed. Environmental Health and Safety were also informed of the incident.
7:16 p.m.: An employee reported she fell and struck her head on the ground after accidentally colliding with a child while she was chasing a foul ball in the UTRGV Baseball Stadium on the Edinburg campus. Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the employee to a hospital for further evaluation.
March 2
2:25 p.m.: An employee on the Brownsville campus reported being harassed by her ex-boyfriend while off campus. The employee stated she had already filed a police report with her local law enforcement agency.
March 3
1:05 a.m.: An officer responded to a report of two individuals sitting in the backseat of a car in Lot E-37 on the Edinburg campus. Upon arrival, the officer discovered that a student and a non-affiliated adult were having a conversation and no criminal activity had occurred.
March 4
10:03 a.m.: An officer responded to the Education Complex on the Edinburg campus regarding a pocketknife that was found.
12:58 p.m.: An employee reported that a man had walked into the womenโs restroom on the third floor of Sabal Hall on the Brownsville campus. An officer checked the area but did not locate the man. No crime occurred.
5:16 p.m.: A student on the Edinburg campus reported being scratched by a cat while she was petting it. The cat was identified and animal control was notified. The studentโs parents picked her up and advised they would seek medical treatment on their own.
March 5
12:02 a.m.: An officer and the Harlingen Fire Department responded to an active fire alarm in the Clinical Education Building on the Harlingen campus. It was determined that a faulty fire panel triggered the alarm, and the building was placed on fire watch until repairs were completed.
