Aug. 30
12:45 a.m.: A UTRGV officer responded to a report of a man and woman sleeping outside the Student Academic Center. The officer made contact with them and found a usable quantity of synthetic marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The individuals were found to have active trespass warnings for all UTRGV property. They were arrested and booked to the Edinburg Municipal Jail.
Aug. 31
3:30 p.m.: While on bike patrol, a UTRGV officer came in contact with a man who was staggering around with blood on his face. The man appeared incoherent and the left side of his face was swollen. He said he didn’t remember much of the incident, but recalls two men had started physically assaulting him. He was unable to recall their description or what direction they fled. Texas South most College security and the Brownsville Police Department were notified of the incident. Emergency Medical Services arrived on scene, and the individual was treated for his injuries and transported to Valley Baptist Medical Center.
Sept. 1
8:25 p.m.: An unknown caller contacted a female student’s mother and claimed they had kidnapped her daughter and were asking for money in return. The parent filed a police report with the San Benito Police Department, who directed her to the UTRGV police department. The student’s mother said she immediately checked on her daughter’s welfare and discovered she wasn’t in any kind of danger.
Sept. 2
1:29 a.m.: During a traffic stop, a student driver was discovered with marijuana, paraphernalia and Alprazolam pills inside the vehicle. The driver was booked into the Edinburg Municipal Jail.
