Oct. 10
10:10 a.m.: A UTRGV shuttle bus was involved in a traffic collision at the intersection of Ed Carey Drive and Business 77 in Harlingen. Harlingen police officers told campus police that only the bus driver was in the vehicle at the time of the accident. The driver struck his head on the front windshield and was transported to the nearest hospital.
Oct. 11
3:04 p.m.: A student reported his ex-girlfriend was harassing him, after being advised several times to not communicate with him. He said his ex-girlfriend approached him, began yelling obscenities and grabbed him by the arm, without his consent, while attempting to communicate with him. The student does not wish to file criminal charges.
Oct. 12
9:07 a.m.: A local vendor reported an unknown individual stole a pack of soft drinks from his delivery truck, which was parked in the SET-B lot on the Texas Southmost College campus. He said he did not see the individual but was told by a witness, who saw the incident. TSC security was notified and UTRGV officers conducted a perimeter check of the area.
Oct. 13
1:51 a.m.: A minor was stopped by a UTRGV officer for driving without headlamps. The female was driving with two fellow high school passengers, who also had no driver’s license. A courtesy transport was provided for the passengers, while the driver was released to her parents. An acceptance of responsibility and a juvenile release form was completed, and the operator was cited for the traffic violations.
Oct. 15
4:30 p.m.: While on patrol, officers saw graffiti on the southeast side of the Science Building in Edinburg. A work order was placed to remove the graffiti.
Oct. 16
3:17 a.m.: At the South Texas Business, Education and Technology Academy, a Valley Metro security guard advised a UTRGV officer that he heard gun shots from the Heritage Square Apartments in Edinburg. People advised they heard similar sounds but could not pinpoint the location. Edinburg Police Department officers arrived at the scene and later found some fireworks near the apartments.
