Sept. 5

8:27 a.m.: A staff member reported that an underground valve detector from the Facilities department was lost on the Edinburg campus.

10:19 a.m.: Two students reported being involved in a minor traffic collision in Lot E16 on the Edinburg campus. No injuries were reported.

10:54 a.m.: A staff member on the Brownsville campus reported receiving a phone call from a former student, who made bizarre statements. The comments from the student were not considered a crime. UTRGV Student Rights and Responsibilities was notified.

6:56 p.m.: A staff member walking on the Edinburg campus felt his left foot pop. He started feeling pain and his foot began to stiffen. He declined emergency medical services, and said he would seek treatment on his own.

7:55 p.m.: A student reported that his vehicle was struck while it was parked in Lot E12 on the Edinburg campus. Visible damage was reported. The case is under investigation.

8:21 p.m.: An officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation near the Edinburg campus. The driver requested emergency medical services because his 5-year-old son was having seizures. The child was transported to Edinburg Children’s Hospital.

Sept. 7

1:30 p.m.: A staff member reversing a university vehicle struck a golf cart charging station near Main Building on the Brownsville campus. Minor damage and no injuries were reported.

1:43 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to Lot E8 on the Edinburg campus, after a vehicle struck a light pole. The driver was gone when the officer arrived at the scene. After investigating, a student was found responsible for the accident. The case was referred to UTRGV Student Rights and Responsibilities.

Sept. 9

12:17 a.m.: A student reported that money was stolen from a locked drawer between May and Sept. 6 in the Education Complex on the Edinburg campus. The money belonged to a student organization.

12:28 a.m.: A student reported that she struck a light pole in Lot E8 on the Edinburg campus. It was later determined that she provided false information and her boyfriend, a student, was the one who did it. Her boyfriend had been driving her vehicle on Sept. 7 and hit the pole in Lot E8. He left the scene without reporting and advised her to report it when she returned to Edinburg from an out-of-town trip. The case was referred to UTRGV Student Rights and Responsibilities.
