Sept. 11
2:10 p.m.: A staff member reported falling from a 10- to 12-foot ladder on the Edinburg campus. He declined transportation to a hospital when emergency medical services arrived.
Sept. 12
9:05 a.m.: A student reported witnessing a physical altercation between a man and a woman inside a parked vehicle in Lot E16 on the Edinburg campus. Both were identified and interviewed. They claimed the incident was only a verbal argument and no assault occurred. The man is a faculty member, and the woman is non-affiliated and was issued a criminal trespass warning.
5:20 p.m.: A staff member reported that while she was unloading some work equipment from her vehicle in Lot E4 on the Edinburg campus, she hit her head on the vehicle’s door, causing a laceration. The woman declined emergency medical services and said she would seek treatment on her own.
8:59 p.m.: An officer stopped a vehicle that failed to maintain a single lane of travel on Expy. 77 in Brownsville. The driver was identified as a student. She showed signs of intoxication and was in possession of an open container. She failed the sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated. Her blood alcohol content yielded .216 and .205, respectively. She was jailed in the Brownsville City Jail and the vehicle was impounded.
Sept. 13
10 a.m.: A student reported being harassed through text message by her ex-boyfriend, a student, on the Edinburg campus. The case is under investigation.
4:16 p.m.: A student reported being involved in a minor traffic collision with another vehicle in Lot B1 on the Brownsville campus. The other driver did not stop after the collision.
11:40 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the Casa Bella Apartments in reference to two open liquor bottles found in the common area by a residential assistant during a health and safety check on the Brownsville campus. Three students were identified with no signs of intoxication. One of the students admitted that he was the owner of the bottles and is over the age of 21. Residential assistants took possession of the two liquor bottles because of policy violation. The report was referred to UTRGV Student Rights and Responsibilities for further review.
Sept. 14
12:01 p.m.: A staff member reported witnessing a parking lot hit-and-run in Lot E25 on the Edinburg campus. Contact was later made with the owner of the vehicle that was struck. The suspected vehicle was also located in the same parking lot.
6:50 p.m.: A staff member reported that her vehicle’s passenger side window was shattered in Lot E12 on the Edinburg campus. While reviewing the footage, the officer observed a facilities grounds employee trimming grass in close proximity to the damaged vehicle.
