Dec. 13
11:54 a.m.: A student contacted an officer to report that a pair of personal sunglasses had been stolen at Sabal Hall on the Brownsville campus. However, after a preliminary investigation, it was found that the elements for theft were unsatisfactory. The student had simply lost the sunglasses.
1:02 p.m.: A staff member reported that n Dec. 10, an unknown man approached her while sitting outside the Student Academic Center on the Edinburg campus and made inappropriate comments.
4:30 p.m.: An officer responded to an active fire alarm at the University Center on the Edinburg campus. The Edinburg Fire Department arrived on the scene and found that the alarm was activated by a dirty smoke detector. They later cleared the building for re-entry.
8:13 p.m.: A faculty member on the Brownsville campus reported that he may have been followed off campus by a student over problems with a final exam.
Dec. 21
12:03 p.m.: A staff member on the Brownsville campus reported that a former staff member who had been employed until November 2018 failed to turn in issued keys.
Dec. 22
5:46 p.m.: A student reported that an Apple Watch had been stolen in University Recreation on the Edinburg campus.
Dec. 23
10:06 a.m.: Officers responded to concerns over standing water found in the Biomedical Building on the Brownsville campus. The standing water was found in the 1100 wing and in the Biomedical loading dock, and result from a broken pipe in a mechanical room. UTRGV Facilities was later notified of the incident.
Dec. 24
11:43 a.m.: An officer responded to an open-door request for a student at the Biomedical building on the Brownsville campus, where it was discovered that the student had an access control card belonging to an ex -employee. The card was confiscated by the officer due to the policy stating that access cards must be used only by the person to whom they are issued.
Dec.27
5:39 p.m.: A UTRGV Police Department staff member reported losing an expandable baton on the Brownsville campus.
Dec. 31
8:06 a.m.: A staff member reported falling and injuring herself on Dec. 30 by the east entrance to the Health and Physical Education I building on the Edinburg campus. The staff member declined medical attention, and notified her supervisor of the incident.
4:24 p.m.: A staff member reported losing her access card at the Student Academic Center on the Edinburg campus.
Jan. 7
1:49 p.m.: A staff member from the Edinburg campus reported losing two university keys off campus.
6:23 p.m.: A staff member at the Bursar’s Office on the Edinburg campus reported that her cash register was missing $105.45.
6:54 p.m.: A staff member from the Bursar’s Office on the Edinburg campus reported that her cash register had an excess of $100. It is unknown whether this case, and the earlier case about the missing money are connected.
Jan. 9
2:58 p.m.: A staff member from the Brownsville campus reported losing a set of university keys in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico.
7:24 p.m.: A staff member from the Bursar’s Office on the Edinburg campus reported that her cash register was missing $100.
