Feb. 1
9:39 a.m.: A student reported that her ex-boyfriend has been harassing her off campus. She was advised of the available UTRGV services, and to file police reports in the respective jurisdiction.
11:55 a.m.: A student reported hitting a light pole, causing damage to her vehicle in Lot E-12 on the Edinburg campus. The student suffered injuries to her head and right forearm, and was treated by Emergency Medical Services at the scene. She was then released. The light pole appeared undamaged.
3:59 p.m.: A Texas Southmost College student reported an unknown man masturbating in the Science, Engineering, Technology Building on the TSC campus. A UTRGV officer met with the TSC security director in regard to the incident. The Brownsville Police Department was also referred to the case.
Feb. 4
9:14 a.m.: While conducting a stop for a traffic violation on International Boulevard and Washington Street near the Brownsville campus, an officer noticed that the driver possessed two current Texas driver’s licenses. The officer confiscated one of the licenses and made the driver aware of the violation. She was issued a citation for the original traffic violation.
Feb. 5
10:37 a.m.: A student made concerning comments to a therapist at the Student Union Counseling Center on the Brownsville campus. She was assessed by a mental health screener and admitted to the Doctors Hospital at Renaissance Behavioral Center.
5:11 p.m.: Officers responded to a fire alarm at the Visual Arts Building on the Edinburg campus. It was determined that the dust from a student’s sanding boards caused the alarm to sound. The building was later deemed safe for re-entry by the Edinburg Fire Department.
Feb. 6
11:38 a.m.: A student reported her vehicle window was shattered due to a rock near where a UTRGV groundskeeper was trimming grass on West Schunior Street near the Edinburg campus. The grounds supervisor was contacted and arrangements were made to replace the student’s window.
7:43 p.m.: An officer responded to reports of damage on an exterior glass door on the southwest side of the Marialice Shary Shivers building on the Edinburg campus. The officer observed markings of letters on the center of the glass door, implying that a sharp, pointed object was used. A work order was placed with Facilities for a replacement.
UPDATE
A suspect has been arrested in connection with an incident reported at 11:44 a.m. Dec. 4, in which a male student said he was being audio and video recorded by another male student while using a restroom in Health Affairs Building West on the Edinburg campus. The suspect was arrested Feb. 6 without incident and is pending arraignment.
