Feb. 7
11:37 a.m.: A staff member reported he possibly hit an unattended motorcycle in Lot E-16 on the Edinburg campus. It was determined there was no impact between the two vehicles.
Feb. 8
7 p.m.: A fight broke out between two students and one non-affiliated man while they were playing basketball at the University Recreation building on the Edinburg campus. They were all issued citations for disorderly conduct-fighting. The man was also issued a criminal trespass warning.
8:05 p.m.: A non-affiliated man fell off his bicycle and had trouble walking afterward at the University Recreation building on the Edinburg campus. An officer contacted the man, who showed signs of alcohol intoxication, and found a cut on his nose. The man refused Emergency Medical Services. A neighbor later arrived and accepted responsibility.
Feb. 9
3:36 p.m.: A student reported her bike was stolen outside of the Life and Health Sciences Biology Wing on the Brownsville campus. The cable lock that was securing her bike had been cut.
5:20 p.m.: A UTRGV police officer injured his left knee and neck from a bike fall during a training course at the Clinical Education Building on the Harlingen campus.
Feb. 11
UPDATE: Upon further investigation from a previous case on Jan. 16, where a faculty member reported his ex-girlfriend causing a disturbance at the Library Auditorium on the Edinburg campus, it was discovered that she provided the officer a false date of birth. Her identity was confirmed and an arrest warrant for failure to identify was obtained and executed without incident.
Feb. 12
5:23 p.m.: A couple of students reported being approached by two unknown men who asked to be recorded while they danced for an audition tape in the University Library on the Brownsville campus. The students agreed, but the dance was inappropriate “twerking.”
Feb. 13
10:48 a.m.: The Edinburg Fire Department and a UTRGV officer responded to a fire alarm but found that a 2-year-old child accidentally pulled it at Emilia Schunior Ramirez Hall on the Edinburg campus.
10:21 p.m.: A student reported that her parked, unattended vehicle suffered minor damage to its rear bumper when it was hit in Lot E-16 on the Edinburg campus.
