UTRGV University Recreation in Edinburg and the Texas Southmost College Recreation Center in Brownsville have intramural sports opportunities available for the 2020 spring semester.
“It’s a good way to relieve a little stress,” said Arturo Cabrera, UREC Coordinator for Competitive Sports & Camps. “A lot of these players, especially the ones straight out of high school … still want to compete. They have that competitive edge in them, and they just want to try to continue their active lifestyle.”
Both facilities have different procedures to sign up, schedules for registration and playtimes.

Agnelia Tiffany Hernandez, TSC Recreation Center’s coordinator of Intramural Sports, said UTRGV and TSC are involved in extramural sports.
“We are part of the South Texas Championship Series, which is a committee where Texas Southmost College, UTRGV, [Texas State Technical College] and [South Texas College] … we’re in this committee, and we host several extramural tournaments throughout the academic year,” Hernandez said.
Students can register for play by creating an account on IMLeagues.com and then signing up for an intramural or extramural sport of choice.
Once signed up, students can form their own team or declare as a free agent to be selected by a team.
