A UTRGV official told The Rider the CESS building has been evacuated and the university is working with law enforcement officials to make sure the package is โsafeโ and โinert.โ
โBut thatโs all protocol,โ said Patrick Gonzales, associate vice president for Marketing and Communications and university spokesman. โSo, right now, we are in the middle of our protocol when these types of things happen. So a package was identified. We have called McAllen police officials and [the] McAllen bomb squad, and they are in the process of checking that out and as soon as we get an all clear, weโll send another message to campus.โ
