The New England Patriots won their sixth National Football League championship in the last 18 years, after defeating the Los Angeles Rams 13-3 in Super Bowl LIII, but are they really the team that has dominated their discipline in the sport’s history?
I will describe some of the greatest sports dynasties and the clubs that have consolidated as the most important in their respective disciplines.
Football
Team: New England Patriots
League: NFL
Dynasty Period: 2002 to 2019
Championships: six Vince Lombardy Trophies
The Patriots became the best team in the 2018-2019 season defeating the L.A. Rams 13-3 in Super Bowl LIII. It is the sixth championship that New England won in the last 18 years. In the same way, quarterback Tom Brady won his sixth Super Bowl ring, along with his head coach Bill Belichick, and have established themselves as one of the greatest sports dynasties.
Baseball
Team: New York Yankees
League: Major League Baseball
Dynasty Period: 1947 to 1962
Championships: 10 World Series
The Yankees have become one of
the most famous and popular teams in the major leagues because of the greatest players in this franchise and the championships the team has won throughout their history. Between 1947 and 1962, the Yankees won 10 of 16 World Series they competed in.
Basketball
Team: Boston Celtics
League: National Basketball Association
Dynasty Period: 1957 to 1969
Championship: 11 NBA championship trophies
During the 1960s, Celtics became one of the greatest teams in the NBA. They won 11 championships in less than 13 seasons. The legend Bill Russell, who played for the Celtics in those glorious years, led them to win nine consecutive championships. The Chicago Bulls was another team that almost created a dynasty in the 1990s, as the Celtics did 30 years earlier, but the Bulls only won six consecutive seasons.
Make your own opinions and ask yourself, which dynasty in sports do you think is the greatest of all time?
