UTRGV junior outside hitter Sarah Cruz scores a kill against the Texans last night at the UTRGV Fieldhouse on the Edinburg campus. Cruz ended the night with 23 kills, nine digs and four blocks. “Yeah, obviously, Sarah has been our go-to all year long and really produced a big game,” head coach Todd Lowery said. “And she was able to produce early. … And when she produces early, our team just breathes. And that is a lot of pressure on her because when she doesn’t, then everybody gets a little bit tight.”

The Vaqueras beat the Texans 3-1 (25-20, 25-13, 24-26, 25-18) in sets. The Vaqueras’ record is 16-9 overall, 7-4 in conference, while Tarleton State is 14-14 overall and 5-6 in conference.
