“Me siento seguro en el campus porque hay muchas personas de seguridad cuidandonos”.
“I feel really safe [on] campus because it’s close to family. I know a lot of people from high school and, I don’t know, I feel like everyone in the [Rio Grande Valley], like, seems to know each other or, like, if you don’t really know them, you know someone who knows them and that’s why I feel safe.”
“I do feel safe on campus because I never had any instance or have heard of anyone [who had] any instance of saying that they didn’t feel safe. And, usually, the people [are] very comfortable, like, I’m not scared to, like, leave my stuff because I know it won’t get stolen and stuff. So, yeah, I feel pretty safe.”
“I think I do feel safe on campus. I do see, like, the campus police around always, like, on alert when emergencies happen. Like, I literally saw, right in front of me, a little incident between a VOLT and a car and, like, less than five minutes in, the police came in and … they calm everybody down. And so yeah, like, if that is the response for a normal incident, a small incident, I could imagine how fast they would be when it’s, like, something major [on] campus, maybe a house fire or, I mean, something even worse. So yeah, in my opinion I do feel safe here.”
“Una razón por la que me siento seguro aquí en campus es porque me siento rodeado de gente muy amable, muy buena onda, que están dispuestos a contestar cualquier pregunta que yo quiero hacer o de lo que sea”.
