With all the recent scandals coming out about celebrities cheating on their mega good-looking wives, I ask you readers, “Why cheat?”
Ned Fulmer, a long-time “wife haver” and a member of famous YouTube group The Try Guys, has recently been found to have cheated on his wife.
I love The Try Guys, OK. I have been watching them since their time at Buzzfeed and even after they left and created their own independent production industry.
When I noticed on Sept. 2 that their collective Instagram no longer seemed to be featuring Fulmer, I thought it was due to the fact that he, a 35-year-old man, was into non-fungible tokens and the rest of the team was not into them and knew the fans wouldn’t like it. I thought they were trying to keep positive favor for the fans by not featuring him until the NFT drama died down.
But then, on Sept. 26, many TikTok videos started popping up on my For You Page alleging that he was cheating on his wife of 10 years, Ariel, with the associate director of The Try Guys since the start of September. I thought, “No. He couldn’t do that.” I mean, his whole thing for most of his career was that he is the guy who loves his wife and is slightly funny because he has a wife. He couldn’t do that.
But just like John Mulaney, he let me down.
The group of four original members turned into a trio on Sept. 29 when The Try Guys official Instagram, Facebook and other social media posted a message that Ned Fulmer is no longer working with The Try Guys “as a result of a thorough internal review.”
I tried excusing it, ya know, maybe it was due to the fact that rumors were spreading fast and it made their brand and Fulmer, who has been known throughout their videos as “the guy with a wife” and other fun names, look bad. And because they have two very young children, I thought maybe it was just to keep them safe.
But then, within an hour of Fulmer no longer being a partner of The Try Guys, he posted his own message about how family should have been his priority but he “lost focus and had a consensual workplace relationship.” My man, that is dumb.
My problem with his message, besides that he cheated, was that it wasn’t consensual for his wife, who may not have known what he was doing.
She is a pillar of his personality. So many Try Guys videos reference him as just “my wife” guy, so for him to pull a John Mulaney and essentially build his career on how much he loves his wife, how devoted he is, only to pull the rug from beneath us and be a ho, well, Twitter and I were shocked.
I must say, these cheating scandals are getting ridiculous. If you don’t like your partner, your wife or whatever you have, don’t be with them. If there isn’t any reason for you to stay, don’t. Why live unhappily quietly and sleep with others when you could just break up and date others?
It looks bad on you to be unfaithful, especially if your wife seems as kindhearted as Fulmer’s.
